10 Ways To Get Leads On Social Media

This can be a pretty in-depth topic, so for this post, I‘ll share a few tips I have learned along my entrepreneurial journey.

ONE. Be Consistent.

I’m sure you have heard this before, but this is so true. Consistent meaning how many posts you do, but also with the consistency in your brand.

TWO. Remember Brand Consistency.

If you see a quote that you like, don’t use the pic that you see that doesn’t match your brand colors/fonts etc. Instead, create your own graphic, type in the quote, cite your source and put your logo on it. The easiest way to do this is to download the Canva app, save the picture on your phone, then upload to your page to schedule, or use a scheduler like Metricool, Buffer, or Hootsuite. Also good: when someone shares this awesome quote, your logo is on it for reference.

THREE. Be Educational.

Your posts should include a good mix including quick educational pieces that have something that appeals to your ideal client. Not every day. When you create your social media calendar, once a week is good; it just depends on how often you plan on posting.

FOUR. Be Yourself.

As an entrepreneur, your followers will want to think they are hearing from you. So when typing out content, make it sound like you are speaking with someone directly. Do you usually say something like “sweet” or “ka-bam” you know, your own quirks. Then use them in your posts!

FIVE. Comment.

On posts in other groups and on your own posts. For Facebook, replying to a comment a day after helps bump the post back in your followers’ news feed. For LinkedIn don’t just “like” a post, use another one and actually write out a comment that isn’t templates or suggested. This will make you stand out and the person’s post you are commenting on will remember how you made them feel.

SIX. Take The Daily 90 Day Challenge.

If you want to break algorithms and see some serious results, post once or twice daily. Do this for 90 days and see your analytics skyrocket! 

SEVEN. Write a Blog.

This isn’t only one of your daily posts, but also helps to build credibility with your SEO. I come up with content when speaking with others in personal and professional conversation. I jot down the title on my phone and usually in the evenings after dinner, I’ll finish the post, add a picture and boom. It’s done. I also am usually 3 weeks ahead for my blog posts. I save as drafts until I’m ready to post, then it goes out to my email list and I schedule it to post on my social media accounts. Share your blog posts in the groups you are in; stay on topics that are recently posted. Also comment on posts with a link to a specific blog post. You add value this way and are marketing yourself at the same time.

EIGHT. Join Groups.

Now this can be done on Facebook and on LinkedIn. This is where I have found leads myself for someone looking for marketing/business consulting or social media managers. When commenting on posts in groups try to be creative with your comment. This is an example of what I say for someone looking for social media help;

“Hey Amina, Social Media Marketing is my superpower! (insert smiley emoji w/stars) I’d love the opportunity to help you! Is it OK to send you a dm?”

Or even go into more detail like this:

“The biggest part of social media marketing is you need to be front of mind. Your personal profile is now used professionally. This doesn’t mean you only post about insurance, you need to post often, daily if you can M-F. Do not post about just your job. Make your posts: 

  1. Personal so they get to know you 
  2. Educational so they build trust in you and 
  3. Inspirational for variation

By doing this, you’ll be in the front of your followers’ minds. That is the goal of marketing; for them to think of you when they need your services.

Once you get going, hire a good social media manager to help with brand identity and consistency.

Hope this helps.”

Don’t be afraid to show value – they will remember your post, check out your profile and like your page and/or reach out to connect or follow you.

NINE. Give Recommendations or Reviews.

On LinkedIn, Google, and Facebook. You will receive what you give, so be sure to write reviews on businesses you visit and on their LinkedIn profiles give a recommendation of services or products used. This goes a long way! They will be sure to remember you when they need your services or products.

TEN. Put Your Social Links On Your Website.

Make sure they work too! This will help your website visitors become followers on your social media accounts. Then they can share your content and hopefully post about your amazing service.

Notice that none of these said to DM (direct message) people you don’t know. 

Emailing is different. Cold emailing (one-to-one reaching out) is different, and in my opinion, ok to do. When you dm people that you don’t know, you can hurt yourself more than get a lead. Just remember – no one likes to be sold to.
