Five Reasons to Put a Marketing Strategy in Place

As a business owner, you know it’s important to have a presence on social media. But how can you ensure that your social media efforts will lead to success? It’s simply all in the planning. Here are five reasons why you must have a social media strategy.

Your social media strategy will be your roadmap to success. When taking a trip, chances are you don’t simply get in the car and start driving. Instead, you fire up your GPS and follow the step-by-step instructions, so you arrive at your destination without taking any wrong turns. A good social media strategy will do the same for your business.

You’ll be a step ahead of competitors who don’t have a strategy. If your competition is like the driver who doesn’t have a GPS, they are very likely to get waylaid while you drive right to your destination while they are trying to find their way.

You need to know what to say and when to say it. Your social media strategy will guide you in much the same way as your GPS by telling you where, what, and when to post so you consistently reach your target market with information that interests them.

You’ll build relationships with your target market. When you know what to say and when to say it, you’ll enjoy more and deeper engagement with your followers. This means more likes, mentions, comments, views, and shares on your social media posts. And all of this means you’re forming a relationship with your followers which in turn increases your marketing reach and brand awareness, leading to a better ROI.

You’ll save time. Going back to the GPS analogy, when you prepare ahead of time, so you don’t drive in circles, you get where you want to go faster. A social media strategy will do the same for your business. There is effort on the front end and it can seem overwhelming, especially if you’ve never done it before, but you’ll be happy you put in the effort to plan because you’ll get better results with less time.

Kalamazoo County Land Bank logo

The Kalamazoo Land Bank did robust community engagement around the vision and gave us something to work with that was solidly desired by people in the neighborhood. Having a vision meant we had to protect it. That’s something I thank the Land Bank for. It was difficult. It didn’t make anything faster or easier, but we got a better project in the end as a result of it.
